Martinton Church of Christ

"To seek and share the love of God with all people."

A big thanks goes out to all who donated food, clothing, money or other items during the recent flooding in the Watseka area.  However, as I write the floods have once again returned.  Streets are once again closed and homes are under water.  They have asked for food, but there is still a lot of clothing on hand.  If you would like to give, canned food and dry goods may be dropped off at the church at any time.  There is no doubt that the items collected will be greatly appreciated by those in need.

COMING IN MARCH!

Easter Sunday will be March 23rd this year!  Once again we are going to feature an early "sunrise" breakfast to be served by our youth.  The special news is that a local artist (Craig Massey) will be with us for worship and will join with our minister in the presentation of an "interactive" sermon; Craig will be painting and explaining the elements of a picture that illustrates the message.

We have great news!

We have been featured in the "Buzz" column of Christian Standard!  The January 21st issue had a picture and short discription of our "Time In" program. http://www.christianstandard.com/buzz.asp?id=574

Our after-school homework assistance and tutoring program has not only gotten off to an absolutely great start with 31 children present on Sept. 19 and 40 present on Sept. 26, but continues to average over 20 in attendance each week.  The program is set up to assist elementary age youth (K-6) with their homework.  The students ride the bus from school to the church where they are greeted with an after-school snack and a Christian animated video that teaches some basic "character" trait such as honesty, courage, sharing, etc.  The program would not be the success it is without the volunteer help and supplies that come from the members of the church.  A big thanks goes out to all who assist with the program.
